Concept:
The Oceanic Conservation Organization is a fictitious organization I created with a group of two other designers, and we wanted to make an exhibit that could be in an airport to represent oceanic conservation under this organization. This project required me to work collaboratively with other designers and craft not only an entire brand, but also design an exhibit that someone could walk through and interact with. We created wayfinding signage and thought outside of the box when it came to tools and materials to create a truly unique exhibit.
Approach:
We wanted the brand to be simple and modern, but strong and compelling to convey the organization’s message. We wanted to go beyond just signage, so we created a means of experiencing this exhibit and not just viewing it. We designed an ocean-themed color palette and created signage in organic shapes, as well as a looped animation to create an illusion of being underwater. This combination changed the entire atmosphere around everyone and made the viewers feel as if they were at the sea floor learning about kelp forests.
Final Product:
With Adobe InDesign and Illustrator, my group was able to create an established oceanic conservation brand. To immerse the viewers, we created an exhibit of a kelp forest with ocean-themed posters teaching them about the importance of kelp. We used materials such as cut-up loofahs, streamers, tablecloth, chicken wire, and rope and designed and experience of swimming through a kelp forest.
